INTERNATIONAL.  /PRNewswire/ --Today the High Negotiations Commission (HNC) launched its vision for a political transitional process in Syria. The HNC vision was unveiled under the auspices of the British Foreign Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson, and in the presence of a number of foreign ministers.

Dr. Riad Hijab, General Coordinator of the HNC, outlined the grave transformations besetting the Arab region, and the impact the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in Syria has on regional and international security.

He asserted that the ever-worsening refugee crisis in many Western countries, and the increasing threat of youth recruitment from Europe and other countries to fight alongside ISIS has become one of the major threats to global security.

In the meantime, he noted, those who suffer the most under the tyranny of declining dictatorships grow in desperate frustration at the international community's failure to stop the atrocities committed against them.

Dr. Hijab stated that it is not possible to address the Syrian crisis in isolation of regional developments, pointing out that the survival of repressive regimes poses a great risk to global security. In order to address these threats, Dr. Hijab indicated that the HNC has taken a strategic decision to continue peace process, and worked on a vision for political transition through a negotiated process which leads to a transition phase beginning with the departure of Assad and his clique, and the establishment of a transitional governing body with full executive authority.

At this juncture, a democratic system inclusive and representative of all Syrians, will be established on the principles of citizenship, rule of law, independent judiciary, and freedom of the press. Including a comprehensive program to combat terrorism and eradicate ideological and organisational incubators which nurture extremism, sectarianism and tyranny.

At the end Dr. Hijab confirmed that Syrians have necessary expertise to develop standards and foundations for a political transition which will have a positive impact on future generations.  He stressed that: "through initiating local, legislative and presidential elections, a permanent constitution for the country will be adopted at the end of transitional phase."

"It will be a challenging and difficult process, but together, with all the Syrians who have made great sacrifices for liberty, rejected ideologies of extremism and hate, a new future for Syria is in our sight."
