University of Manchester Middle East Centre to host workshop on 'Creativity & Innovation Essentials'

 UAE.  The University of Manchester Middle East Centre will host an executive education workshop on Creativity & Innovation Essentials, in Dubai on 25-26 October. The two-day course is based on the University’s consultancy and research into creativity and innovation across the GCC region.

The programme leader is Dr. Mark Batey, creativity specialist at the University and one of the world’s leading researchers into creativity in the workplace.
 
According to the University, business research suggests that creativity is ranked as the key skill for the 21st century and is closely linked to business performance, growth and organisational success. Creativity is a capacity that can be learned and allows people to develop ideas to solve problems in different ways and capture opportunities.
                                                                                      
Programme leader Dr. Mark Batey, Creativity Specialist at The University of Manchester, says: “Creativity is the source of innovation and every improvement at work starts with an idea and every job requires creativity. Research studies show that creativity can be trained and that creativity training programme produce improvements on everything from attitudes towards the importance of creativity at work through to improvements in job performance.”

The two-day programme is designed to share with participants from government, large companies and start-ups, the strategies and practical tools required to maximise creativity and innovation among individuals, teams and organisations. The University’s diagnostic tools allow individuals and teams to identify their creative profile across 12 factors clustered into four dimensions: Idea Generation, Personality, Motivation and Confidence. Then creativity tools and exercises are used to enhance strengths and develop weaknesses.

Dr. Batey adds: “Creativity is the most important skill for business leaders and organisations need to encourage creativity to drive innovation. Leaders make a big difference – they can kill or cultivate creativity. A good leader understands that they need to direct and manage the creative process but not dominate it. Our Middle East programme will help participants improve their ability to lead and nurture creativity for people and teams across their organisations.” 

The University’s two-day course is an immersive and experiential programme based on the unique insights gained from Manchester Business School’s own research into creativity and innovation in the GCC. The Creativity and Innovation Essentials course will be hosted and organised by The University of Manchester Middle East Centre at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai, UAE, 25-26 October 2017.

The University of Manchester Middle East Centre opened in 2006 and has supported over 2,200 working professionals across the region studying for the Manchester Global Part-time MBA.
 
About Dr. Mark Batey
Dr Mark Batey, Joint Chair of The Psychometrics at Work Research Group at Manchester Business School, is a world-leading authority on the Psychology of Creativity. In 2009, he was ranked 2nd in the world for published research into creativity. He is also R&D Director for the psychometric tools for business company, e-metrixx.

Dr Batey's research into the psychology of creativity focuses on exploring the psychological traits that can be used to understand how people approach being creative.
